All Surfaces Clean At All Times
as part of Klima Biennale Wien
interdisciplinary exhibition,
poster, booklet,
2024
All surfaces clean at all times is an interdisciplinary exhibition exploring the moral and political assumptions attached to hygiene, cleanliness and sterility as communicated through architecture and design. The motifs, that formally resemble bacterial structures, in reality are frottages of everyday detail-oriented architectural “spatial elements”—features that are usually hidden and plastered over in a white cube setting (such as filters, air outlets, etc.) to create the illusion of an isolated/clean space.
Designed in collaboration with Stefanie Wurnitsch
Curated by: Never at Home, Clara Grillmaier,
Carmen Lael Hines, Stefan Perez Altenriederer
Production by: Nina Zips
Risoprint: Vienna Printing Cooperative
Photography: Stefanie Wurnitsch, Simon Oberhofer
